The Key Pen Parks Foundation (KPPRF) exists to help the Park District and the community to preserve the natural and rural character of our Key Peninsula. However, “it takes a village” to make it work.

They matter because it's important to preserve and create shoreline access. They matter because our children and grandchildren need safe and accessible  places to play and to learn. They matter because we all need quiet, beautiful spaces to walk, to hike, to observe and to reflect.

Active Parks and Passive Parks

We need both! We all know what an active park looks like on a Saturday  morning: excited children, ball fields, bleachers, concessions, and coaches and
 parents. A park may also be a passive space with scenic trails, bird-watching areas, and perhaps a few benches, quiet spaces designated as conservation areas.
The Key Peninsula is rich with both active and passive parks, and it will take our community efforts to preserve and improve them in the years to come.
